Michael Bay’s Ninja Turtles reboot officially began shooting yesterday at Jones Beach State Park in Wantagh, New York, under the title “Foursquare.” So if anyone in the area happens to see signs labeled “4SQ,” they may get a chance to see the film in production.

So far, the movie stars Megan Fox as April O’Neil, Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, Jeremy Howard as Donatello, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo and Will Arnett in an unknown role.

Nolan & Bale Not Back for Justice League?

Last month, it was reported that Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale were possibly returning for Warner Bros.’ Justice League movie. However, it now sounds like they may not be back after all.

Scoop masters Latino Review were on the Schmoes Know Movies podcast to discuss the matter. They say the studio was revved up to welcome back its Dark Knight duo for their upcoming JLA pic, with Nolan producing and Bale potentially reprising his role as Batman. However, Warners is now reportedly having trouble getting Nolan onboard, as the director doesn’t want JLA messing with the continuity of his Batman films. There was even some hesitancy surrounding Man of Steel’s Superman appearing in the film (Nolan is a producer on that picture).

Summer’s Hidden Movie Gems

We’ll all obviously be going to see Man of Steel, Iron Man 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness this summer (or winter if you happen to be in Australia). But what of the smaller films that will be hitting during blockbuster season? Those hidden gems that either pass by unnoticed, or become sleeper hits thanks to strong word-of-mouth? Well, we here at IGN like to champion the underdog so the following is a list of 10 smaller movies with a big chance this summer. Here’s hoping a handful of them crossover and give Supes and pals a run for their money.

Release Date: U.S. May 24, U.K. June 21, AU: TBA

We’re kicking off with a gentle romantic comedy directed by Richard Linklater and starring Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke. It’s actually the third instalment in an ongoing series that has been delighting moviegoers for the best part of 20 years. The first film – Before Sunrise – revolved around a couple meeting on a train and spending a romantic night together walking the streets of Vienna. Sequel Before Sunset revisited the pair nine years later in France. And Before Midnight brings us bang up to date as we journey to Greece with the star-crossed lovers.

Clone Wars’ Filoni Involved in New Star Wars Series

It’s been a tough couple of weeks for fans of recent or would-be current Star Wars content, as word has spread about the end of many projects. First came the announcement that Star Wars: The Clone Wars was ending. That announcement also included the shelving of Star Wars: Detours, as Lucasfilm appeared to be stopping work on most projects that were being produced before Disney bought them, as the company gears up for Episode VII and many other new Star Wars films.

Has Jackson Read Star Wars: Episode VIII?

Does Peter Jackson have the Star Wars: Episode VIII script in his possession — or is he merely trolling the interwebs?

In his latest video blog for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Jackson dropped a playful little Easter egg at the 4:51 marker, during which the filmmaker casually lets slip a very brief glimpse at what looks like his own personal copy of the Star Wars sequel screenplay.

Roger Ebert’s Views on Fanboys’ Favorite Films

Acclaimed film critic Roger Ebert passed away today. For many of us in film criticism and movie journalism, Ebert (along with his late TV partner Gene Siskel) was the first to make us think critically of film or to even view it as an art form. But for all his high brow qualities, Ebert also had the common touch. He was accessible to filmgoers, and would champion art films and crowd pleasers alike.

Watch some of his reviews of the most popular genre movies (OK, and a few not so popular ones) that we often showcase here at IGN. We give you two thumbs up, Roger. You will be missed:
